2/2/26: YOUTH PARENTS – MONDAY MOTIVATION FROM ELEVATED STUDIOS > WILMINGTON, DELAWARE

👀 RESPECT STARTS WITH AWARENESS

One of the first things we teach our youth students at Elevated Studios in Wilmington, Delaware is that respect starts with awareness.

Awareness of their body.

Awareness of their teammates.

Awareness of the space they share.

Respect isn’t just about saying “yes sir” or “no ma’am.” It’s about learning how our actions affect others.

Mat Application

On the mat, respect shows up in simple but meaningful ways:

  • Asking a training partner if they have any injuries before sparring
  • Controlling speed and strength during drills
  • Giving a handshake or fist bump before and after a round

These habits teach kids empathy and boundaries in real time. They learn that training isn’t just about what they do, but how they do it.

Life Application

Off the mat, those same skills carry into everyday life. Respect becomes:

  • Listening without interrupting
  • Giving others personal space
  • Understanding rules and why they matter

When kids learn respect through action, not just words, it sticks.

Conversation Starters for Home

  • What does respect look like during class?
  • How can we show respect at home this week?
  • Why is it important to consider how others feel?

We’re proud of the way your children are learning to honor others through their actions every day.

See you on the mat,

– Mr. Steve
